| 1) | When puppies are teething - give them "crushed ice" in a bowl to sooth their gums - as they get bigger and are no longer teething, change it to "ice cubes" - it will keep them cool and refreshed. | . |
| . | . | . |
| 2) | Make sure your puppy has plenty of his own toys to play with - offer a new toy every day! This will decrease the chance of them chewing on your favorite things! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 3) | Never "cage" your dog while you are away from home. Train your dog instead and take the time to play with him/her. Give your dog plenty of exercise. Besides, we all know that cages are for cats! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 4) | Riding in the car can be an exciting event. However, ensure that your dog is never left in a car without ventilation or water. Otherwise, don't leave them in the car! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 5) | Take your dog on vacation with your family! They are family too! Don't leave them at the kennel - that crowd changes daily! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 6) | If there is room in your current family, adopt a dog! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 7) | Dogs shouldn't be given as presents, or to children under the age of 5! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 8) | Never name your dog after a living relative! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 9) | Invisible fencing in the yard is a form of neglect, take time and enjoy your yard with your dog! | . |
| . | . | . |
| 10) | Support your local SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) - they really do a great job! If you see a dog in trouble, call your local SPCA immediately! | . |

" It's not realy much harder to take care of two dogs instead of one, so why not get your best friend a friend of their own. Save a life & make a life better. " submitted by: Chris Gibbs " If you have more then one dog at your home, be prepared that soon they'll start behaving more attached to you, most probably seeking more and more of your attention. Also, be prepared that younger dog will not respond to your instructions in the same manner as the older one. The younger will be always more addicted to either more dominant dog or the owner. Do not consider younger one to be STUPID, it just don't understand your language, the center of it's world is mature dog who raised it since it was a pup, he understands dogs language, give him a time, they're great, so loving ... have one mature and 2 young ones at home. " submitted by: Unknown " When feeding a pup, place your hand in the dish with the food in your hand, stroking the dogs back with the other hand. After a couple of days, place the food in the dish, and introduce a treat with your hand in the dish while the dog is eating, touching his mouth to cue the new treat being offered. I have done this with all my dogs, and never had a problem with food aggression. Anyone can put their hand in my dogs dish while they are eating, they expect a treat! A must tip if you have children in the home. " submitted by: Dane Mum " 4th of July - the time for parades, fireworks and lots of fun and excitement. Don't forget that dogs can be frightened by fireworks and parades - so pay special attention to them and make sure you give them attention, plenty of water and watch out for them. AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE DON'T LEAVE THEM IN A HOT CAR - EVER!!! " submitted by: Jean " Trees are blooming and fruit is falling. Watch that your pet doesnt eat the seeds and fruit it can be very sickening to their digestive sytem . A few tasty seeds from neighbors tree resulted in colitis for Darla and we are withher all the time. Be vigilant. Stay cool and water always at the ready. " submitted by: DarlaMaes Mama " Puppy training can be better managed if you take the dog out to do their business immediately after eating and immediately after they awake. " submitted by: Manny " We rescued my dog from stupid little kids punching and kicking him all because, his owner left him in the garden every day and every night so i really think you should have a horoscope for dogs' whose birthdays are unknown. Great site anywayz thx Congrats to whoever made it up it's brill and sounds quite true. " submitted by: Kerry " Take your dog boating and swimming and you will never go alone again. " submitted by: Dick Dollof " This site is great i love it !!!thank u!! " submitted by: Blair " When you get home at the night, you will find that your dog is waiting behind the door. " submitted by: Shirleen " dogs can sense emotions but they are unable to understand the reasons behind them. If you are upset, worried or depressed, it's important to reassure your dog so they don't also become unneccesarily concerned. An owner is the the centre of the universe to a dog. Great care should be taken to respect the unconditional love we receive from our dogs. " submitted by: Shannon " The best reason to adopt a pet from a shelter is life needs love as much as you need to have love in your life! " submitted by: Unknown " During hot weather, don't leave any pet in a parked car even for a few minutes - it can be fatal. " submitted by: Unknown " I know with work and everything that we all do sometimes the dog loses out in the deal if we could all just realize that 10 mins just a little time before work can make the dogs day better and not make him feel unloved and lonely we can all give 10 mins and not only for them but it will make you feel better as well try it.they deserve our love and we are blessed to have there's. " Submitted by: fallenangel " The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog...He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world...When all other friends desert, he remains. " Attributed to: George G. Vest " Dog. A kind of additional or subsidiary Deity designed to catch the overflow and surplus of the world's worship. " Attributed to: Ambrose Bierce " The gift which I am sending you is called a dog, and is in fact the most precious and valuable possession of mankind. " Attributed to: Theodorus Gaza " If it be the chief point of friendship to comply with a friend's motions and inclinations, he possesses this in an eminent degree: he lies down when I sit, and walks when I walk, which is more than many good friends can pretend to do. " Attributed to: Alexander Pope " I take the liberty of confiding to your charity and humanity..Max, who is the best and gentlest and most reasonable and well-mannered, as well as most beautiful small dog of his kind...I shall take it kindly if he be not too often gratified with tidbits at meals. Of course what he most intensely dreams of is being taken out on walks, and the more you are able to indule him the more he will adore you and the more all the latent beauty of his nature will come out. " Attributed to: Henry James " Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices. This praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery, if inscribed over human ashes, is but a just Tribute to the Memory of BOTSWAIN, a Dog. " Attributed to: John Cam Hobhouse THIS IS SOME GOOD ADVICE! If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like: When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy. When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps. Stretch before rising. Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing
and pout...run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle
them gently.
